Proper car repair and maintenance is essential to getting the most out of your vehicle, ensuring it is safe, efficient and drives well for a very long time.

It’s the car trouble scenario no one wants — you’re driving down the freeway, far away from home, and your engine chooses right now to give out.

Catching Problems Early

Most car problems don’t just happen out of nowhere. Usually there are signs as noises, lost efficiency, and worn-out parts that can be caught before they develop into major problems. Car repair for these small issues is usually easier and less costly than the major repairs you’ll need if you let your car to break down.

What You Can Do

First, you’ll need to make sure all your fluids are topped up as needed and changed regularly. Oil, brake fluid, and coolant ensure your car runs smoothly and safely. You also need to keep an eye on belts for signs of cracking and wear. Monitor your tire pressure and tread depth. Change your brake pads regularly. Clear corrosion off your battery terminals. Finally, note any changes in the way your car runs, and talk to us about them.

Tune up

Routine tune-ups are crucial to maintaining your engine’s performance and longevity

Generally, a tune-up consists of checking the engine for parts that need cleaning, fixing, or replacing. Common areas under inspection include filters, spark plugs, belts and hoses, car fluids, rotors, and distributor caps. Many of these only require a visual inspection or a simple test.

The term “tune up” comes from the time when auto technicians needed to tune the car’s carburetor. While vehicles are now fuel injected, the term endures and generally represents minor maintenances that need to be completed. A tune up could consist of battery services, installing a new air filter or fuel filter, fluid services, oil changes or replacing the spark plugs. Here are a few signs it is time for a tune up!

    • Decreased Fuel Efficiency

If you are spending extra time at the pump and less time on the road it may be a sign that some routine maintenance is needed. By conducting a tune up you will help restore the functionality and efficiency of your car’s engine!

    • Poor Running Engine

As mentioned, tune up services can help ensure your motor continues to run properly. For example, replacing the spark plugs will ensure there is no misfiring, which is caused by corroded or aging spark plugs. Misfiring results in a rough idle and is a huge waste of fuel!

    • Hard Starts

Hard starting can be caused by several problems, that usually can be resolved by replacing or cleaning minor parts of the car.

A fresh fuel filter could ensure fuel is getting to the motor and cleaning the battery terminals will create a secure connection to make sure there is sufficient electricity flowing to get the motor running. If that does not help, it will need further investigation to diagnose the problem

    • Check Engine Light On

If the check engine light comes on, its best to take your car for proper diagnostic. This light usually represents a small problem, but if not addressed on time, it can become a bigger and costly problem.
